One of the most fun things to do with your new drone is racing. You can find all types of racing events for different types of drones. One of the more popular racing type drones is the FPV (First Person View) drones. A racing drone is usually considered a small quadcopter that strictly built for racing. Racing events are held all over the U.S. as well as throughout the South. These drones are built for speed and are not built for steady filming that is a much bigger and slower drone.
You can buy a complete racing kit or the more hardcore like to build theirs from scratch. Either way, you are in for a good time!
The Torrent 110 FPV from Blade is a good base racing kit to start with. This small racer can zip through the skies indoors or outdoors. A nice feature of this drone is it comes with propeller guards to prevent damage to the blades as well as hurting anyone. Of course, there is always the option to build your own, and there are advanced modding techniques to really get it going fast.
The more advanced techniques are for the season vets, but for beginners, we suggest a Ready to Fly (RTF) drone like the Torrent. There are racing events and communities in Florida. In Fort Lauderdale, there is the Broward FPV Drone Racing Meetup. They have great racing events all summer long. This is just one of all the great drone racing communities you can find all throughout the south.
Racing Drones can be a lot of fun and a social event. Also, racing drones are becoming a national phenomenon. ESPN recently broadcasted drone racing with more and more coverage drone racing is becoming a huge past time.
